WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
AUDIT & INSPECTION
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT * SAFETY * STANDARD OF CARE
INDEPENDENT
We are totally independent. Although we know all the major manufacturers (and work on any manufacturers equipment), we do not do playground installations so we are not there to sell you expensive new playgrounds, parts and equipment. You will know that safety is our priority and our inspection isn't part of a sales pitch.
INSPECTIONS
General Inspections are in-depth inspections of your playground for safety hazards and that it meets ASTM Standards. We inspect all equipment for loose/worn hardware, loss of powder coating, rust and general wear. We measure all Use-Zones for compliance with ASTM standards. We also inspect the surfacing to make sure that it meets ASTM 1292 guidelines.
Inspections are important for two reasons: First, they keep your playground safe for children and second they protect you legally by maintaining a Standard of Care. Be PROACTIVE and correct a problem before an accident occurs. An inspection by our NRPA Certified CPSI's can reveal problems you otherwise might miss. We tailor our inspections to meet your needs. Most clients need/order general inspections and not audits.
We also recommend a Quarterly Maintenance Review Plan to keep your equipment safe year around and maintain your Standard of Care.
AUDITS
Audits are comprehensive, highly detailed playground safety reports that show a written comparison of your playground point to point with the ASTM Standards, some being 20 pages or more in length. They often include a survey/plotting map or aerial photos. Audits are recommended for those looking for accreditation from NAEYC, grant funding or a new install. An audit should be conducted before you place a new playground into use in order to fix any compliance or safety issues with the manufacturer and installer before you take over responsibility. Audits should also be conducted if you are adding new components or an audit has never been done on your playground. Audits protect not only your children, they help to protect you legally.
QUARTERLY MAINTENANCE REVIEWS
In order to maintain the Standard of Care on your playground, NRPA recommends that you perform Quarterly Maintenance Reviews. These reviews are less meticulous than general inspections, but are critical to maintaining the Standard of Care on your playground. During our reviews we look for and note any immediate hazards, maintain proper surfacing levels, remove any debris and more. QMR's reviews SHOULD be conducted by an independent CPSI if you do not have a ASTM trained maintenance technician on staff. Staff not trained in playground safety will often unknowingly CREATE safety hazards when making general repairs.
BENEFITS * COLORADO SHINES *
An official NPSI report conducted by an CPSI can be linked to a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) in order to boost a program's Colorado Shines score. By implementing the action steps in our reports, a program can strengthen its application for Qualistar's Capital Improvement Grant Program. A Qualistar CIP grant can be used to help cover the cost of facility and playground improvements. Call us today and let us help you.
